San Diego Comic-Con International has become a huge advertising opportunity that Marvel Entertainment has used for years to bring excitement to their fans. But now, it seems that they don't need to. According to James Gunn, director of “Guardians of the Galaxy”, Marvel Studios will not attend this summer’s Comic-Con. While answering a question on Facebook, he said “I’m not sure. Marvel isn’t going so I’m not sure I will either.” But what does it mean that Marvel’s not go to the biggest comic event of the year? Depends on what angle you’re looking at this news from. If you’re a rival studio (DC, for example) that would present a major opportunity. With their most anticipated movie, “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” not coming to theaters until 2016, DC could use comic con as the next step to their growing Justice League franchise. With Marvel not being there, this especially would leave DC with the opportunity to become the main focus of the entire convention.
